A family reunion at Bear Lake Utah turned into a little more once the whole family talked about what everyone wanted to do. Bear World, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Bear Lake, Oregon, then Washington and then back to Oregon. We made it home just in time for Sarah to start second grade the following day.
Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho. The kids stepped out of the car in Twin Falls and said it smelled like cow poop. It did smell like cows. We loved the waterfalls. The kids had barely walked 100 ft. when Ryder fell to the ground saying his legs didn't work and Jack leaned over and said his batteries were dead. Too much time driving in the car I guess.
We visited Bear World just south of Rexburg, ID and had a bear walk over to the car, step up on the running boards and bite the door handle trying to open the door. It was very exciting for Ryder, Jack and Joey who were all in the backseat. I just kept exclaiming to Ryan, "Just drive!"

We stopped at Mesa Falls on our way to eat dinner at Big Jud's. The falls were beautiful and Ryder spotted a hornets nest along the walk under the stairs. Very exciting.
Our first day in Yellowstone. The hot pots and geysers were interesting. After the first day the boys had come up with a new word to describe the scent of Yellowstone, "GEYSERIA." Everything smelled like geyseria!

It was fun trying to keep all the grandkids to stay on the path so they would not fall into boiling water. We just happened to be behind some brilliant adult examples of how to touch the boiling water and step off the trail. Fortunately no one went off the path except for a far flung quarter!

We decided to take a break from the family adventures for a morning and take the kids fishing. This is what Ryder and Jack wanted to do more than anything on this trip. Fortunately we caught two fish minutes before we packed up and left. I love my great fishermen.
Alongside the road we stopped to look at this little geyser-like volcano above the river. Perfectly hidden (and not pictured) are some Elk that were feeding in the forest above the river. It was a beautiful area to see.
We saw lots of Elk, Bison, an Eagle, an Osprey, and Deer.

We made our way south from Yellowstone to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The kids loved the elk antlers.
Then we made our way to Bear Lake, Utah for a Bauer Family Reunion. The whole family had a great time together. We had never been to Bear Lake and it was worth the drive to see everyone and spend the day on the lake.

Then we went to Oregon. Fishing with Ryan and cousin Simon before Ryan flew home to go back to work.
The boys wanted to build a submarine with grandpa Doug then decided to build a tank. The fun just kept on going for them.
The Carrick cousins have started a tradition of an annual cousins trip. This year we went to Washington to The Great Wolf Lodge and Waterpark. The cousins absolutely loved it. Ryder and Jack could not get enough of the squirting sea doos and I felt sorry for anyone who happened to walk within range of their squirter.

It was a great adventure and a wonderful way to finish our summer. We love all of our family!!!

Looks like you guys had a wonderful trip! Fun to see pictures from my neck of the woods. Your kids are so cute. Mylie will start kindergarten next fall also. I'm excited for her but also can't believe it!
