Is Mother's Day supposed to be stressful? Ryan took the boys on the Father/Son camp-out so Sarah and I went and had a manicure/pedicure for an early Mother's day present... not stressful at all, and it was quite relaxing. But since we decided to stay in town for Mother's Day and just drive to Sacramento for the afternoon to have family dinner, I did not have an excuse to say no when I was asked to speak about my mom on Mother's Day. Not a relaxing Sunday morning. We celebrated at our house with the kids and then headed for the Smyth's.
We arrived and the cousins all were playing and running everywhere. Then Krista and Sarah ran into the house announcing that one of the twins had blood gushing out of his finger. I ran out to see Ryder's finger, gushing. Stressful. After applying sufficient pressure and cleaning it Ryder would survive with only losing 3/4 of his fingernail. Fortunately he still had his finger after Jack showed me how they had been smashing rocks together. Unfortunately, it was Jack who had smashed Ryder's finger.
Ryan was barbequing while Ryder was getting patched up and then we sat down to a great meal.
During desert, Sarah came up to me sheepishly and asked me to come with her. She quietly told me she had fallen out of a tree and asked me to look at her leg. Stressful. She was scraped from her ankle to her behind, and had a cut on her face. I got her cleaned up, consulted my Dr. brother-in-law and had her rest. I asked if she fell all the way to the ground, nope, she had landed on a branch that broke her fall...OUCH!
During the drive home I had decided I had a good Mother's Day, stressful but good. I love my three very adventurous little ones. The afternoon was full of blood and cuts and I definitely will not forget it.
The grandchildren each gave Grandma a flower and told her something they love about her.
